UWorld’s AP® Success Grant Awards $62,000 in Digital Resources

DALLASUWorld, a worldwide leader in online learning to prepare for high-stakes exams, today awarded more than $62,000 in resources and support to four high schools. The UWorld AP Success Grant is designed to help schools and districts build equity in their AP programs by providing high-quality teaching and learning tools to support all AP teachers and students. Student performance in AP courses and on exams are indicators of college readiness, according to the Redefining Ready initiative of AASA, the School Superintendents Association.

The four grant recipients include:

  • Bella Vista High School in San Juan USD, Fair Oaks, Calif.;
  • School for Advanced Studies West in Miami Dade
  • Public Schools, Doral, Fla.;
  • Austin-East High School in Knoxville, Tenn.; and
  • Westmont High School in Campbell Union High School District, Campbell, Calif.

UWorld’s Learning Tools for AP Courses make the rigor of AP curriculum understandable for students, manageable for teachers, and provide valuable program insights to administrators. The grant recipients will receive access to UWord’s online Learning Tools for AP Courses for all available AP subjects for the 2021-2022 school year. The Learning Tools include content for students, assignment tools and progress monitoring for teachers, and assessments and reporting at the student, class, campus, and district levels. Schools will also receive personalized implementation training and ongoing support.

Kathleen Turnmire, assistant administrator and instructional coach for Knox County Schools, said: “It’s critical for our students’ success that we bridge the skills-gap that has occurred over the past 18 months due to the pandemic and community trauma by providing students with resources they need to perform well in college-level courses and tests. Additionally, UWorld’s resources will help our teachers align curriculum and assessments with the rigor of AP courses.”

  1. A Virtual Learning Environment (VLE) is a system for delivering learning materials to students via the web. Now everything is made easier for the students as most lectures, assessments and other information related to the academic curriculum are made available 24/7 online. Providing access to these material both on and off-campus helps students who find it difficult to come to campus due to various reasons with their academic work.
